Some theatre-goers came at 6:30 a.m. to take up a place in a queue. To avoid misunderstandings, the organizers of the show decided to secure a number of each person in line with special wristbands. Also, it was possible to get a number via center’s website. Those people who were logging on after 12 A.M. found out that there are 74,000 people ahead of them.

The off-Broadway opening of Hamilton premieres was held in February 2015. The show quickly drew tons of attention of the community and popular media due to its unique representation of far historical events through the lenses of modernity. The authorship of Hamilton belongs to Lin-Manuel Miranda, who not only came up with this outstanding blend of hip-hop and classic Broadway melodies but also played a role of America’s first Secretary of the Treasury Alexander Hamilton. The show got 11 Tony Awards, a Grammy for best musical theater album and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. This sounds impressive.

It’s not the first time Hamilton comes to Southern California. The only difference: last year’s run continued 4.5 months, while the current tour lasts only from May 8 until 28.comprising 24 performances in total. There were around 72,000 tickets for sale: about 20,000 were purchased by the season’s subscribers. It means that subscription sales tend to increase – it’s 54% more than previous year sales.

The rest of interested could visit a website to purchase them online until they’ll be sold out.

Center’s President Terry Dwyer was quite surprised with the fan’s rush. “We have already held lots of popular performances, but demand on Hamilton exceeded all the expectations”.

Due to Hamilton’s strong emphasis on race and hip-hop music, it is attracting a variety of audiences that are not keen on theater. The organizers believe that Hamilton may be a starting point in their passion for Broadway musicals.
