Hamilton in Portland 2018
THE SHOW IN PORTLAND HAS ENDED: Please visit “Hamilton” tour page to see other cities.
The Hamilton’s arrival in Portland’s Keller Auditorium isn’t unexpected for its residents: the tour event was announced one year ago. Despite the fact there is still a lot of time to buy a ticket until late March 2018, the people have already got an opportunity to purchase the resale way in for at least $475.
This is the price for the seats which are far from comfortable. The best ones will cost up to tens of thousands and a few sold for $3,100 (more here).
Hamilton has become the iconic Broadway show for Americans since its premiere, that’s why the tickets are at the high margin. The creation of Lin Manuel Miranda absorbed the elements of the initial American culture along with the modern tendencies. You will notice it clearly after listening to the musical accompaniment of the play which amazes with its diversity. However, the majority of the arrangements have been made within hip-hop and R&B music styles.
The tickets’ popularity reached such heights that the online lottery’s website for Broadway shows crashed due to the huge user’s rush. Just imagine: the traffic was 50 times higher than it is for an average performance.
Beyond the national love, Hamilton got recognition of theatrical critics and received many prestigious awards such as Tony Award (won 11 out of 16 nominations), Pulitzer Prize and Grammy Awards in 2016. It also set new sales record by beating Wicked only in one week after the premiere performance. However, Donald Trump criticized the show on his Twitter by calling it “highly overrated”, and labeling the behavior of its cast towards Mike Pence as “terrible”.
The tickets’ sale has been opened only for season ticket holders and other ticketing organizations that purchase them in a bundle of over 20 items. Theatregoers will be able to buy a ticket in advance only 4 or 2 months before the show starts.
