Any time to watch live theatre is great. My main complaint for this theater is there is. I middle isle. If you have seats in the middle of the theatre you are going to have a hard time and make plenty people angry if you need to make an exit during a show. The place does have an old feel to it and not a classic theater old feel. There are plenty of outlets for drinks and snacks.
This is an amazing historical place. Easy access to all the seats. Seats were great and don't hurt your back. Nice space so your not elbowing people. The staff are very friendly and willing to help you get to your seat or explain anything you need. Drinks and snacks are good here and the security here was on point. Saw Nikki glaser here. She amazing and her opening acts killed it. Check this place out

It is nice venue for performances as well as a small conference. I came for a national conference for women architects. The outdoor courtyard is amazing to have food and drinks, pre and post conference networking.

What a great location! Near to the highway. The auditorium was amazing from inside with great management and cleanliness maintained. We visited for a live concert of Ustaad Zakir Hussain and Suresh Wadkar. The hall was jampacked and sound quality was superb. I would love to revisit for other events. So proud that Bay area has such a center which hosts talent from various countries and cultures. It was heart warming to see how approachable the place is. Feels rich in the area.Only issue was parking. Had to pay separately and park in a nearby Public Parking, even after paying so much for the concert ticket. I felt like something should have been arranged for visitors.

It’s a great place in downtown for organizing an event. Parking is limited. You can park on the streets. I attended a live music show of Parma Bhushan Zakir Husain and Padma Shri Pt. Suresh Wadkar. Balcony seats are a little compact but ambience inside is nice. The show was actually amazing 👏🙂

We went to go see The Lion King. It was amazing! I took my 2 girls and they loved it! Amazing performance. During intermission, they have aids in the restroom to move everyone through as quickly as possible. Great service from staff and amazing performance from the actors. Really impressed.

One of my top 2 live musicals of all time, The Lion King was remarkable as ever at SJ Center for the Performing Arts. The venue, not so much. Inside the...

Watched Lion King; fantastic show! My son loved watching from close by; however, a tall person was sitting in front of him; based on my observation, my son was able to watch only one side of the show :-). I wish the seat rows height difference is a little better for this reason. However, we can try different zones next time or bring a seat pillow; even better if the facility can provide some for kids ..
We attended The Lion King performance at the Center and it was AMAZING. My only major complaint was that the Theater did a poor job of accommodations for the disabled. If a handicapped person, in a walker or wheelchair wanted to sit closer to the stage, they wouldn't be able to, because of the enormous amount of stairs. There are no ramps or elevators. My mother was hearing-impaired and was looking forward to the show. Although we obtained the audio machine, the actors voices were often too low and she needed a clised-caption screen. But the only screen for closed caption was close by the stage and wasn't clearly visible from where we were seated in the back orchestra area. Overall, we had a good time, the show was amaxing and my Mom could hear the music just fine.

Saw the Lion King here. Beautiful theatre. Sound was a little bit off (the mix between voices and instruments needed work) but the key reason for 4 instead of 5 stars was the temperature! Man, turn on some AC! Seems like they were trying to save some dollars. I recommend dressing lightly if you come see something here.

This is still one of my favourite places to see bands. Legendary. Excellent sound. Friendly staff. I was at the barricade when I was here in july to see Frank Turner and the Sleeping Souls. The show was one of the best I've seen in my life and I've seen hundreds maybe thousands of bands.

Went to see Dear Evan Hansen here on 6/19! It was an amazing experience and the theatre was gorgeous. I will say, since the rows of seats have no middle aisle through them, you kind of have to climb over the other people who are sitting in between you and your seat. However, it was just a minor difficulty and it doesn't take away from the beauty of the theatre.

We love going to the theatre here. San Jose Broadway has their shows here. It is an aging building; 50 years old this year. It would be great if they could update the seats at some time and add a bit more legroom too; coming from a tall person's perspective. It would be nice if there were more women's restrooms, as well. Intermission ends up a bit crazy getting from your seat to the restroom and back again in time. All that being said, it is laid out nicely so that the majority of the seats have a good view.

I think, it's a great venue to enjoy concerts and live events in general. It's a beautiful place! l really like it's architectural design interiors as well as the beautiful fountain that welcomes you at the esplanade when you first get there.
First of all, I just want to say how grateful I am that we have a home for Broadway productions in San Jose! It's so amazing that we get to see all these...
Nice, big venue with multiple side access portals into auditorium. Older building that may need an update soon. Men's bathrooms were clean and well stocked but dimly lighted. Numerous friendly ushers on hand for directions. Parking plentiful off street and in surrounding lots--one 6 min away on foot was $7 all day as of May 2022.

Taking line dance lessons there from a great teacher. A great place to start your dance classes or take one to continue your lessons.

Good enforcement of COVID protocols. Paperless tickets worked great this time. Liked that the closest parking opened an hour before curtain. Based on all this, we renewed for the 2022-2023 season.
21:29 23 Apr 22
Small tight seating at all levels. Tend to be over priced to but then not much else where to go. Good part is that all seats have a good view. Able parking too. They are handling the mask mandate very well to

Great theater. Food selection is minimal but delicious. Probably the most efficient bathrooms in the history of public venues!
This is a two part review.I'll give the venue 4 stars. Getting in with covid protocols was pretty easy. There was a weapons scan and electronic ticket...

Great location, nice building and amenities. The seats however are reminiscent of Century 16 back in the early 2000s. To those that don't know, that means they're terrible! 😆

Great venue to view San Jose Symphony. I used Lyft, and it was easy for my drivers to find spots to drop off and pick up in front of the building.

We had a wonderful time listening to dinner of the greatest American composers last night. A lovely venue with a very helpful and friendly staff.

Beautiful lady of a building, It is small but powerful highly recommend an event here we chose to see Charlie and the chocolate factory the musical. Staff was amazing and again love the building.
We saw Simon and Garfunkel. It was the bomb BUT it wasn't really them it was a cover band. I loved it anyway to me it's the song's, music takes me way... Back 🤸🤼

Booked tickets to the nutcracker on the 17th. It was okay. The dancing was spectacular however.... It wasn't the nutcracker. Didn't care for this rendition....
15:47 14 Dec 21
Matinee of the Nutcracker. Performance was great, but slightly ruined by the crowd that feels it is acceptable to holler and whistle during performances. Miss the classy old days of the shows.
As far as events go, there's been tension for how they'd be carried out, how they'd support a large group, along with ensuring safety of those who...

Take a date, or family, to see a live performance of great music theatre, symphony, or take the exam to be a CPA! Nice people work at the center, close to parking and restaurants. Don't forget to look at the river bank tents of the urban campers and think "I voted for that! I can't wait until they are part of my street!"

Came for the last movie in the Harry Potter Orchestra series. The venue and the orchestra was excellent in all regards! Also, an extra plus that they were checking for vaccinations and mask usage while also being efficient.

Such a wonderful experience. Came here for the final instalment of the Harry Potter Movie in symphony series. So fun as my kiddo's first experience at the symphony was the first movie and since we have been to many others between Symphony SJ and in SF, not just movie ones. Thank you so much!

Saw ALTON BROWN 'S BEYOND THE EATS! What an enjoyable and clever person! Catch his live show if you can, and you can always see him on Cooking Channel's Good Eats!
21:05 09 Nov 21
It's a great venue for a show. I could see the act perfectly: facial gestures, body language & expressions. Felt the audience were a little crammed together which I didn't like. Heard beforehand that the sound or sound system was bad. It seemed fine to me. I could hear everything perfectly.

I saw comedian Bill Burr here this past weekend. Great venue. Very smooth entrance with covid protocols followed. Comfortable seating. Good staff running the venue.
Watched Hamilton with the kids. I love that you can take your drink inside the seating area.

I have always had great theatre experiences at San Jose Ctr for the Performing Arts. The seats are very comfortable. They run only top notch performances. It is one of my favorite theater spots.
01:12 02 Nov 21
Even literally from the last row, still a great experience. Cast of Hamilton, while not the original still so amazingly talented. So far have seen two shows at this theater and enjoyed both.
22:48 22 Oct 21
Cannot say enough how wonderful this venue is to see a show. Easy to get to, very easy to enter and exit the venue and... they let you go outside during intermission! Yay.
This is a beautiful theater. When I graduated from High School (Andrew Hill) in 1982, this is where we had our ceremony and it still looks great. Thumbs up to the Management and Maintenance teams, great job guys!.
17:26 18 Oct 21
We saw Hamilton here. It was a nice venue. We sat in the upper level which was fine with me. The seating is just really long rows and they were only admiring from one side. I would definitely advise getting there when the doors open for your show so you can get seated. Great place to watch a show
Nice place. Saw Hamilton. Balcony seats were good. Getting out at end of show can be slow. Overall a good experience.
21:38 16 Oct 21
I remember being much younger and performing with my school choir here, then again with ballet class. Now I'm bringing my soon to be 16 year old daughter to see Hamilton. So crazy. But it looks just as grand as it did before.

Excellent shows throughout the year. Wonderful place to go out
Pretty big venue, clean and spacious.I came here back in September of 2015 and saw The Lion King with an old friend and I was very pleased with the venue....

We saw an opera in this beautifully restored theater building. They had food and beverage service during intermission. Also, the bathroom lines for the women's restroom moved very quickly because they had a woman directing patrons to the next open stall. If I lived there, I would be a patron of the local entertainment offerings.
00:34 19 Jan 20
This is an excellent venue for medium sized performance. We recently saw Styx play here, which was a great show. There is not a bad seat in the house! Parking across the street was $20 but well worth it on a cold night!

Its interesting that they have port-a-potties instead of regular restrooms. There were a lot of women's potties than men so I'm definitely happy. Plus they were clean and definitely fancier than the regular ones (thank God).Watched Miss Saigon and I like the fact that this place isn't that big. I'm used to SF theaters so definitely a plus that is place is small.
Great place to see a show. Comfortable theater and always organized getting in and out. Could use a better arrangement on their restrooms as the gals seem to always have a long wait. Easy access to parking right across the street. A variety of excellent restaurants within walking distance
